Estimation might need some extra setup
Our estimation feature is designed to work with specific project types. If you encounter issues while trying to estimate, it could be due to one of the following reasons:
- The project type may not be compatible with the estimation feature (e.g., non-Scrum or non-Kanban projects).
- You may lack the required permissions to configure the estimation field (Story Points).
Below, we’ve outlined common scenarios and how to resolve them.
- Company-Based Scrum Project Without Story Point Setup
Scenario 1:
If a Scrum project does not have the Story Point Estimation field set up, and a non-admin user attempts to make an estimation.
Behavior:
The user sees an error message stating that they are not authorized to perform this action.
A modal is displayed prompting the user to provide the email address of the project admin.
Once the admin’s email is provided, an invitation is sent to the admin to join the session and assist with setting up Story Points.
Steps for Resolution:
The non-admin user enters the admin’s email in the modal.
The admin receives an email with instructions to set up Story Points and join the session.
Once the setup is complete, estimations can be made successfully.
- Kanban (Team-Managed) Project Without Story Point Setup
Scenario:
For Kanban projects, if the Story Point Estimation field is not set up, users attempting to estimate are guided through the setup process.
Behavior:
A video modal is displayed to the user, providing step-by-step instructions for setting up the Story Point Estimation field.
Once the user follows the setup instructions and attempts estimation again, the process succeeds.
Steps for Resolution:
The user is presented with a modal containing a video tutorial and detailed steps.
The user follows the steps to configure the Story Point Estimation field.
After completing the setup, the user retries the estimation within the app and proceeds without issues.
- Non-Scrum or Non-Kanban Projects
Scenario:
The estimation feature currently supports only Scrum and Kanban projects.
If a user tries to estimate in a project type other than Scrum or Kanban, an error message is displayed.
Behavior:
A toast notification informs the user that the feature supports only Scrum and Kanban projects.
The message also indicates that we are actively working on expanding support for additional project types.
Steps for Resolution:
Users are advised to switch to Scrum or Kanban project types if possible.
Alternatively, users can wait for future updates to include additional project type support.|
