Using the ASSIGN Template in Quely

The ASSIGN template in Quely is designed to help session admins distribute work based on real team capacity, availability, and experience.

This template is ideal for sprint planning, lean cycles, or any situation where tasks need to be assigned intentionally, not randomly. It ensures every team member is working at a sustainable pace with full visibility into who’s doing what.

When to Use the ASSIGN Template

Use the ASSIGN template when you need to:

• Distribute work after a sprint planning or backlog refinement session
• Match tasks to available team capacity
• Avoid overloading or underutilizing team members

Setting Up the Session

After selecting the ASSIGN template, the session admin sets:

• The assignment period (e.g., sprint length)
• Whether it’s a Sprint or Lean-style session

Once the session starts, each team member sets their availability:

• Enter the number of hours they can commit for the period
• Quely uses this to calculate individual and team-wide capacity

Work Distribution

To distribute work effectively:

1. Ensure all tasks have story point and time estimates — either from a prior ALIGN session or by manually entering them here.
2. Team members can input:

• Their own estimate of how long they believe each task will take
• This helps surface mismatches and align expectations

3. As the admin, you can now begin assigning tasks:

• Assign based on workload, availability, and fit
• Use Quely’s interface to monitor how balanced each team member’s assignment is
